How to become a successful beauty therapist?
The ability to make a person look beautiful is priceless and very rewarding both monetarily and for your personal satisfaction. You can become a beauty therapist with certain inherent traits and others that are imbibed through proper training and on-job experience. You must have a passion for beauty in any form. These forms will encompass items of fashion, jewellery, hair styling, beauty products as well as measures for improving one’s looks with the help of exercises, proper diet and obesity control. Beauty therapy is a vast subject. It includes the use of both natural and artificial aids that may be administered in skin care or massage and waxing or manicure and pedicure as well as hair styling. If you want to be a beauty therapist, you must have an outgoing or extrovert nature. The successful beauty therapist is a good conversationalist, especially one who has an innate ability to listen to one’s clients. A good beauty therapist is a personal adviser to his/her clients. One must be able to guide one’s clients to reach their personal goals with the help of the right kind of beauty treatments.
In order to become a beauty therapist, you must be at least 16 years of age. There is no entry qualification stipulated and one can start training to be a beauty therapist by obtaining recognised qualifications first. The NVQ in Beauty Therapy is the most common among these qualifications. The starting point of beauty therapist courses is to obtain NVQ Beauty Therapy Level 2. This is for beginners and is an introduction to beauty therapy and the treatments that cover subjects that include manicure and pedicure, waxing and make up besides customer care as well as health and safety. Level 3 encompasses complex treatments besides beauty business. One will therefore learn about massages and facial treatments and tanning. One will also learn about finances, targets and stock. This completes your basic requirement in beauty training and you can hereafter take up full time employment in a beauty salon. For those that are interested there are several other courses on beauty such as nail art. These could be one day courses or courses that one may complete through distant learning.
