The town of Melaka, said to be Malaysia’s unofficial historical capital, is a city with impressive historic buildings from its colonial history and a true Asia Pacific feel. No surprise then that visitors to Melaka have plenty of choices when it comes to day-out tours and activities.

Melaka was inhabited by numerous colonial powers over the past four centuries. The Portuguese, British and Dutch all left remnants of their presence in the form of buildings, churches and squares. This is what the Dutch Heritage Trails Tour has in mind when it takes you on a trip around the town including down Jonker Street. This tour features an English-speaking guide, private transfers, all entrance fees and lunch at a Peranakan Restaurant. Most of the Melaka hotels are a short walk from the starting point of this tour.

For a tour of one of the world’s largest collections of tropical and sub-tropical fruits the D-Paradise Tropical Fruit World and Aboriginal Village is a must-visit. The tour includes a comfortable walk through the park or a buggy ride for the whole family. Very close to Melaka, this 168 acre site showcases over 800 varieties of fruit.

The ‘duck-bus’ is a vehicle developed by the US for use in WWII and has now been repurposed as a touring vehicle that takes travellers around some of Melaka’s historic sites all in one go. The one hour journey is hosted by a friendly tour guide that perfectly matches the tour’s Donald Duck mascot.
