Things to Do in Granada City Centre

There is so much to do close to many of the hotels in Granada City Centre, be it shopping, sightseeing or partying.

For the best shopping experiences visit Plaza Nueva, an area full of jewellery and ethnic shops or Calle de los Mesones, popular for shoes and fashionable clothing. The Albaicin area is also ideal if you are after unusual gifts. Artisans are often busy at work there, which can be interesting to watch as they create a range of local skilled crafts.

El Corte Ingles is a large chain of department stores with one in Granada city centre itself, offering a full range of goods from clothing and technology to home wear, music and DVDs.

The Alhambra is a top tourist attraction in Granada and is an inspiringly beautiful Islamic palace surrounded by gardens. It is ideal for photographic opportunities as well as a relaxing walk. The Capilla Real is another architectural structure well worth a visit whilst in the area, complete with its own gothic style and marble tombs. There are also many museums to explore for an educational and historical experience if this is more your thing.

Flamenco shows are common in Granada and can be a lot of fun as well as offering a traditional cultural encounter. If you prefer a fiercer cultural tradition, the Plaza de Toros de Granada offers regular bull fights, although it may not be for the faint-hearted. If you are a sports fan, there are many golf courses in the area, as well as the chance of watching a live football game at Estadio Nuevo los Carmenes.

Granada often has many theatre productions and concerts taking place throughout the whole week, so these are also well worth booking. Fiesta de la Toma, Reyes Magos and Festival de San Cecilio are just some of the popular festivals within the area that occur at different times of the year.
