On October 12, 1944, she applied for her patent application for the All-Purpose Utility Pencil Case, and then the patent was finally approved on December 24, 1946.

The first pencil case that was made by Amoth was designed to hold six pencils. There was a hole for every pencil that could be inserted. There were also slots in the end of the case which made it easier for the erasers to remain sticking out from the case. In the recent times, pencil cases mostly come under two categories. They are either used by students to carry their pencils, pens, erasers and other writing accessories to school, or they are used to guard comfort or high-end pens. Many colorful and trendy pencil cases have also dominated the market and have almost replaced the pencil cases that were used to be there in the market.
