Deciding to Buy Cheap Property in Dewsbury

It is strange how some names can affect people’s decisions in life. I found myself doing something strange a couple of years back connected to this thought. I was looking to purchase a house and didn’t know the exact area I wanted to live in. I knew that I wished to stay in the north of England because I had been born and brought up in Manchester and loved the area. My attention was caught by an advertisement in the local area offering “buy cheap property Dewsbury!” and I immediately knew that this was what I was looking for.

The truth is that I loved the name Dewsbury and it conjured up images fairy rings in grassy meadows in the early morning and although I know that these fanciful thoughts have no place in the reality of the modern world, I still wanted to live in a place which had such a lovely name and somehow sounded so fresh and inviting.

I could have decided to buy cheap property somewhere else and called it by a lovely name such as the popular Rivendell or Rose Cottage or even the sarcastic Dunroamin’, but somehow a cottage in Bolton doesn’t have the same ring as a cottage in Dewsbury. When I was younger I watched a TV serial based on the books about “Anne of Green Gables” and there was one scene in it which reminds me of my decision to buy cheap property in Dewsbury as opposed to elsewhere.

Anne is talking about her name and how important it was to her to have a nice name because she said that although Shakespeare had written that “a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet”, she disagreed with him. She claimed that if a rose was called a skunk cabbage it wouldn’t be half as lovely and this stuck in my mind. I have to agree that a name is important and that is why it took me so long to choose the names for our children.

Deciding to buy cheap property is easier than deciding and dealing with the pitfalls connected to selecting a child’s name and you need to very careful that you do not lumber your child with a name that will ensure the poor thing is teased throughout life. The name should be short and easy to spell and pronounce as well as being popular and not associated with any nasty people. It is a mine field that you need to negotiate and even when you think you are safe, it can trip you up as a friend or mine realised. We were discussing this topic and he said that he had been teased throughout his childhood due to his name. I was confused and said “but your mane is Mark so what could be found wrong with that?” His reply made me laugh, when he said “how would you like to be called “question mark”, “skid mark”, and worst of all “hit the mark”?!
