Dress shirt selection for different occasions

White Tie

In royal events like balls, operas and ballets, the attendants have to strictly adhere to dress codes. This is the most formal dress code for men as they have to wear a tuxedo and white bowtie. The dress shirts are generally white and sometimes pleated while fabric have some extra starch to look more crisp and sharp than usual. Formal wear or Black tie

Black tie is the less strict version of white tie but the tux is required. Mostly the linen, silk or cotton fabric is preferable with pleated front. If you do not have wing collar in your wardrobe then opting for long-point collar is also fine. For long point collar, French cuffs with double buttons and for wing collar, single cuffs are preferable. It is also not necessary to wear shirt studs but it should be covered placket.

Black Tie Optional

When selecting a shirt for the occasion where you have the option mentioned to have the black tie as an option it clearly states that it is the best option. Wearing a black tie would mean you are dressed perfectly for the occasion. Wearing a tuxedo looks good but if you don’t own one you could still fit in. Black looks greatest with white. On occasions like these a white dress shirt with wide spread collar and French cuffs with black cufflinks would make a great impact on everyone who sees you.

Business formal

Business world demands the person to look down right to business and should make a good impression on the other person. Dark suits and silk ties are known to be the best for business. Cufflinks add zest to the attire and a white shirt with a dark suit presents you a man with style and power. Button down collars would not be a good option here and try to keep them away from your business collections.

Festive Attire

Festive attire means to add colors in your dressing while you are on leave or holidays. People usually get bored with same monotonous business colors, so while you are on leave and there is no one who is going to object on your dressing the why not try some brown, green or burgundy color dress shirts from your wardrobe. Now here we are talking about checks, patterns, stripes or anything that is apart from your daily dressing but your dressing must look bright and colorful.

Casual Attire

In casual attire, one can almost wear anything starting from t-shirts, tank tops, jeans, khakis, dress pants and corduroys. If you want to look better than everyone in the room, fetch a linen dress shirt with top buttons opened over a pair of trousers or jeans. In casual dressing, any collared shirt will work but opting for dress shirt will make you look more stylish. It is not necessary to tuck in your shirt; you can leave it un-tucked, especially if you are wearing jeans or khakis.

Everyone have dark, bright, colored, patterned, striped and checked shirts in their wardrobes. In casual dressing, it is the right time to wear them. Casual attire totally depends on the atmosphere or the crowd. You can make your dressing colorful and casual depending on the atmosphere of the area, but there is no restrictions, wear anything that you like.
