Time Lapse Video is a great way to highlight the development of your project from start to finish.

What exactly is time lapse video?

Everyone will have seen time lapse video at one time or another. One of the earliest examples that you will probably have seen is on natural history programmes on the television. They will show a plant growing from seed to full flowering, or it might be a caterpillar turning into a butterfly in the matter of a few seconds, This is an amazing way to see the growth of something that may take hours, days, months or even year in the space of a few seconds or minutes. Time lapse video has a camera in a fixed position that will take a shot of the same scene in intervals so that when they are all stuck together and run like a film you can see the rapid change of something that would not be possible in any other way.

How can time lapse video help businesses?

It is often difficult for people to appreciate the transformation that has taken place with a simple before and after shot. Nothing truly shows the effort and ingenuity that has gone into a project like a time lapse video. Imagine seeing a building being built from the first brick to the final finish of paint from start to finish in under a minute. This is the beauty of time lapse video. It can show your clients just a glimpse of what was involved, including all the people and machinery and everything else as well. It can be applied to so many different things and is a fantastic way to promote your company.

Where is a good place to go to for time lapse video?

This is obviously something that is very specialist and niche and therefore you really want to go to a company who knows what they are doing. In theory anyone with a good camera should be able to do, but in practice it is not so easy and there are more things to consider than most people realise. The initial photography is probably the easiest part. The editing and production is another matter altogether. One company that is a leader in the field of time lapse photography is called Mulholland Media. They have an excellent website at www.mulhollandmedia.co.uk, where you can see their magnificent show reel.
