One Less Type of Car for Car Dealers in Edmonton to Sell Unlikely
A horrific road mishap near Stratford in southwestern Ontario left 11 people dead when a van carrying 13 people and a truck collided. Days after the mishap, some people are clamoring for the ban of vans that have a capacity of 15 passengers, believing they offer little to no protection. However, will banning a certain type of vehicle make Canada’s roads and highways safer? Others begged to disagree.
According to the reports, the crash happened at an intersection complete with a red STOP sign. Accounts from the three survivors in the van said the van plowed through the sign and crashed into the truck. Both drivers and nine passengers in the van never made it alive from the ordeal. From the looks of the intersection itself, it is already telling both drivers to stop a while and look at both sides of the crossroads.
A columnist for a Canadian newspaper states in his report published on the Wheels.ca website that a ban on the 15-passenger van may not make much of a difference. While three territories: Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia have imposed a similar ban, it only bans use for picking up or dropping off students. In general, it falls on driver discipline and defensive driving to bring passengers safe and sound.
The said report also pointed out speculations that the driver of the van failed to see the STOP sign on the intersection. However, driving doctrine tells drivers to always slow down when in an intersection. Even with the lack of safety features or the features not being visible, the crossing itself is a plain giveaway for any driver. It could have happened to any car, which is why car dealers Edmonton has to offer are quick to remind their buyers about safe driving.
Whether a van or sports car Calgary Subaru dealers sell, safe driving is still the solution in the prevention of road fatalities. Had the van and the truck slowed down at an intersection and gave right of way, 11 people would still be alive today. The columnist also said that having two vans to carry the same number of passengers will only double the risk of an accident happening.
Car dealers in Edmonton assure their buyers that they sell safe and quality cars at reasonable prices. Yet, the driver has to do his part in making sure that the safe sedan or sports car he buys stays safe via proper driving practices. So the next time you come up at an intersection, with or without a STOP sign, stop, look, and listen.
